✦ Synopsis

A CHCI3 extract of the stem bark of Picea jezoensis var. hondoensis (Pinaceae) afforded two triterpenoids named piceanonols A and B with a novel 14(13-.12)abeo-12otH-serratane skeleton. Extensive NMR studies, MS spectral analyses and X-ray crystallographics established their structures as 313-methoxy-141],21 I~-dihydroxy-14(13--12)abeo-12otH-serratan-13-one and 21 ot-methoxy-1413-hydroxy-14(13--12)abeo-12etH-serratane-3,13dione.
