โฆ Synopsis
A number of new books and reprints reviewed in this issue call attention to the high level of current psychological interest in thinking and cognitive processes. At least six separate areas of investigation are covered : the cybernetic or informationprocessing approach, which Reitman refers to in his preface as "the new black magic" ; Piaget's unique developmental approach; Berlyne's theoretical and experimental analysis of concepts reflecting similarities and differences between thought processes and other forms of behavior; a study of the creativity-intelligence distinction, by Wallach and Kogan, which is related to Torrance's work reviewed in the preceding issue ; studies of interference with effective cognitive functioning, leading to failure in school, one by Holt and one by Harris; and the relation of cognitive functioning to the brain, in the readings edited by Milner and Glickman.
