Abstract

Neuropeptides play important roles in chemical signalling in the central and peripheral nervous systems. One of the largest families of neuropeptides is that of the FMRFamide‐like peptides (FLPs). This paper reviews what is known about the physiological functions of FLPs in crustaceans, focussing on the cardiovascular, digestive and neuromuscular systems. Microsc. Res. Virtually all of the SCP,-like immunoreactive neurons (ca. 60 cells) in the lobster Homarus americanus also contain FMRFamide-like immunoreactivity. Control experiments reveal that SCP,-and FMRFamide-like immunoreactivities are successfully preadsorbed with their specific antigens, while the normal

## Abstract Two alternatively spliced variants of an orphan __Caenorhabditis elegans__ G‐protein‐coupled receptors (GPCRs; Y58G8A.4a and Y58G8A.4b) were cloned and functionally expressed in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells. The Y58G8A.4a and Y58G8A.4b proteins (397 and 433 amino acid residues, res
