โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

The alkylation of kraft lignin with bromododecane was carried out to improve the compatibility with polypropylene (PP). The feasibility of PP/alkylated lignin composite was studied. It was found that the lignin could serve as fire retardant and toughening agent for PP matrix. Moreover, the higher lignin portion of the composites exhibited obvious damping effect. Although scanning electron micrographic observations indicated that PPโ€lignin adhesion was improved by the alkylation, additional benefits were only obtained from impact behavior. POLYM. The effects of phenolic microspheres (PFM) on crystallinity and mechanical properties of isotactic polypropylene were studied. Isotactic polypropylene-PFM blends were formed by injection or moulding methods. The addition of PFM influences neither the degree of crystallinity of the polypropylene matr
