✦ Synopsis
Mechanical and thermal properties of layered perovskites-polystyrene composites have been studied over a wide range of temperature and filler content. The layered perovskites show a solid-solid transition at a temperature which is dependent on the number of the carbon atoms in the hydrocarbon chains and on the nature of the metal atom. The system PS-Cl2 Mn shows relatively good mechanical properties even a t high filler content. These properties, coupled with an excellent thermal behavior of the "thermally active" filler inside the polymeric matrix, make the title composites of interest in the field of thermal-energy storage.
