Initial trials investigating the aerial application of a water-based micro-encapsulated formulation of pink bollworm pheromone are described. High temperatures and low relative humidities associated with the close proximity of desert place severe constraint on the time during which the spray operation can be carried out with consistent effect and an analysis of local meteorological data has been used to provide a basis for an optimum recommended work period.
