✦ Synopsis

The physical aging of bisphenol A polycarbonate was studied using the differential scanning calorimetry technique. Cowie and Ferguson's model and Williams-Watts function were used to analyze the data. It is confirmed that the relation ⌬H ϱ (T a ) ϭ ⌬C p (T g Ϫ T a ), where ⌬H ϱ (T a ) is the value of the aging enthalpy for t ϭ ϱ, T a the aging temperature, and ⌬C p the difference in the specific heat above and below the glass transition temperature (T g ), can be used to study quantitatively the physical aging of bisphenol A polycarbonate.

It has recently been demonstrated that hot-drawn samples of bisphenol A polycarbonate (PC) have a 50% higher volume relaxation rate than their isotropic counterpart even though the oriented samples have a lower initial free volume (i.e., higher density). 1 In an attempt to better understand this par

The physical aging of polycarbonate was investigated with dynamic viscoelastic measurements. Physical aging was observed for samples aged at 110 °C (QA) and room temperature (QP) after being quenched from the molten state. Analog calorimetry is used as a tool to study the interaction of polystyrene, PS, with bisphenol-A polycarbonate, PC, and with tetramethyl bisphenol-A polycarbonate, TMPC. Electrostatic charge calculations were used as a guide to divide polymer repeat units and analogs into groups. A mean-field bina

## Abstract Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and bisphenol‐A polycarbonate (PC) are important commerical polymers. PMMA/PC blends were once considered as immiscible blends.^1–3^ However, recent studies have shown that the miscibility of PMMA/PC blends depends on the method of preparation.^4–8^ Chio

Syndiotactic polypropylene (sPP) was quenched from the melt in an icewater bath, and changes in the structural organization, during the aging time, were followed by X-rays, differential scanning calorimetry, and transport properties of dichloromethane at low activities. After 1 month, an increase of
