Abstract
Data on the photosynthetic production collected in the Black Sea during March and April 1969 showed a particularly strong spring bloom. Details of the interpretation of the data are concerned with seasonal and local variations as characteristics of semiβenclosed oceanic basins. High values of darkβassimilation of carbon dioxide have been found in and below the oxygen/sulfide interface and the difficulties of their interpretation are discussed.
