✦ Synopsis
The photochemistry of complex in simple alcohols have been studied using 2Ϫ IrCl 6 laser-flash photolysis. Single electron transfer from the solvent molecule to the light-excited complex has been shown to be the primary photochemical process. Quantum yields of the photoreduction of complex and the rate constants of its reaction with hydroxyalkyl 2Ϫ IrCl 6 radicals were determined at Deviations of the rate constants from Debye-Smo-200-330 K. luchowski equation for diffusion-controlled reactions are discussed.

## Abstract When a 1° or 2° alcohol solution of benzophenone and 2,4‐pyridinedicarbonitrile (**1**) is irradiated, the 2,4‐dicyanopyridinyl radical (**2**) is formed immediately. When the irradiation is performed in the cavity of an ESR spectrometer, the spectrum amplitude increases to a near stead
The isomerization of linear C3H 3 (+) in its reaction with acetylene to cyclic C3H 3 (+) was studied with a quadrupole ion trap mass spectrometer. The reaction of linear C3H 3 (+) with (13)C2H2 shows that isomerization takes place via a [C5H 5 (+) ](\*) activated complex that is unstable relative to
