✦ Synopsis
The influences of temperature (2 d T$295 K) and homogeneous magnetic fields (0 Q H< 6 T) on the optical absorption and emission spectra of single-crystal [Pt(thq)z] are reported. Analysis of the spectra shows that the emission at low temperatures originates predominantly from several types of traps located energetically below the lowest triplet exciton band. When a magnetic field is raised from HZ 0 to 6 T, beside the zero-field emission line of each trap an additional line appears, which is red-shifted by Apk5 cm-'. This result is explained by a magnetic-field-induced mixing of the two lowest excited triplet components of each trap.
