β¦ Synopsis
4 theoretics1 spprosch using a SCF Ci method has been used to analyse the Tt -T,, absorption spectrum of Z,Sdiphcnyl-1,3.4-oxadiazole. In its fist rriplct state in ;1 non-polarsolvent, thismoleculcis strongly non-plsnar_This conclusion is corroborated by comparison of the fluorescence and phosphorescence spectm. -4 change of geometry, towards ;! more planar conformation, appears to occur in an alcoholic solution_ It is su sgzstcd that np autocompletes are formed in the triplet state. Conflicting results published for the T-T sbsorption must be attributed to sn impurity_
