The photophysical properties of Photofrin II are studied in water, methanol nnd tetrahydrofurm solurions and compared with those of hematoporphyrin. Time-resolved fluorescence measurements indicate rhc presence in terrahydrofurar! solutions of Pbotofrin II of a new decay component with time constant x1.86 ns, which is attributed IO a covalenrly bound dimer.
