✦ Synopsis
Abstract
We study theoretically the optical losses in a microcavity made of porous silicon. A quantum derivation of the shape of the resonant transmittance peak for the general case is presented and then we analyze the effect of Rayleigh scattering of light on the disordered structure of porous silicon in details. We introduce a simple model of porous silicon disorder, which allows to estimate the total rate of the Rayleigh scattering from the fundamental microcavity mode. We also investigate the angular distribution of scattered photons. (© 2005 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
