โœฆ Synopsis

The recent growth of astrophysics emphasizes the differences that exist between the photometric nomenclature of physics and that of astronomy. Astronomers employ such concepts as "brightness," "luminosity," and "magnitude"; but these same words are used with entirely different meanings by astronomers and by physicists.

The paper shows how photometric concepts of the two groups can be correlated and made more precise.
