A new p-phenylene-vinylene-thiophene-based siloxane block copolymer has been synthesized. The copolymer consists of alternating rigid and flexible blocks. The rigid blocks are composed of phenylene-vinylene-thiophene-based units, and the flexible blocks are derived from 1,3-dialkyldisiloxane units.

We present optical studies using photoluminescence, absorption and Raman scattering on samples from two generic families, the polycrystalline para-phenylene oligomers and the amorphous paraphenylene polymers, under hydrostatic pressure. These studies have provided insight into the geometry of the mo
