Abstrac+

-The oxygen generation produced under uu light in aqueous suspensions of ZnO containing Hg(II), Ag(I) and CrO:-ions as conduction band electron acceptors, has been investigated. It is shown that the main source of the oxygen produced comes from the water oxidation, and that the rate of oxygen uptake denends on the efficiencv of the different electron acceptors to scavenge the photogenerated electrons in the conduction band of the semiconductor.
