✦ Synopsis
Using Fourier transform mass spectrometry, we show that I-is desorbed when layers of CFJ on Ag( 111) are irradiated with 193 nm photons. While substrate-mediated excitation plays some role for thin layers, I-persists even when the CFJ is separated from the Ag( 111) by thick layers of hexane. Thus, an important role is also played by dissociation that is mediated by substrateindependent intermolecular charge transfer and initiated by direct photon absorption.
