✦ Synopsis
Electron attachment to neutral clustersof 2chloroacrylonitrile (CAN) creates a complex distribution of anions consistent with the occurrence of an intra-cluster polymerization reaction. With the exception of the monomer anion, all Intense peaks in the parent ion mass spectrum accessible from the dimer can be generated by photofmgmentation of (CAN)?. The dominant decay channel for the dimer anion appears to be sequential elimination of HCl monomers, similar to the degradation observed for the bulk polymer formed from CAN ' To whom correspondence should be addressed.
