By using 31P NMR and IR techniques it is established that the basicities of triphenylphosphine rn-trisulfonate (TPPTS) and triphenylphosphine (PPh,) are in the same order of magnitude. This highly hydrosoluble phosphine is a convenient ligand for the synthesis of hydrosoluble coordination compounds
