✦ Synopsis

The title compound, CICr( III)TPP-Py (Py=pyridine), in acetone photodissociates the axial pyridine, probably from the 'S, state, to give CICr(III)TPP as an initial product with yield of ~0.16 upon 532 and 355 nm excitation. The initial product, CICr( III)TPP, reacts with both pyridine and acetone to yield CICr(III)TPP-Py and ClCr( III)TPP-AC (Ac=acetone). The monoacetonate complex, ClCr( III)TPP-AC, further exchanges the axial acetone for pyridine to regenerate ClCr (III)TPP-Py.
