β¦ Synopsis
A new tandem quadrupole photodissociation mass spectrometer was used to mcasue photodissociatjon moss sxtions for the reactions, CHsCi* + CH$ f Cl and CHJBI' + CH; + Br in the gzs phase using rvnvelengg-selected &ht. llx results on CHzCl+are mmpzed with the earlier work of Dunbu. For both resctions we are ebIe to observe photodissociations occurring with small cross sections (= 2 X 10Vzo cn?) in the vijible region near the thermo-lJlemica1 thresholds.

A quadrupole, quistor, quadrupole tandem mass spectrometer allowing selected ion/selected molecule reactions was built. The quistor will be used as a reaction chamber for the study of organic ion-molecule reactions. Ions are generated in a differentially pumped ion source, quadrupole mass selected a
