Abstract
A series of new comb‐like aromatic polyamides containing cinnamoyl groups in the side chains were synthesized by acylation of 5‐aminoisophthalic acid with 4‐alkoxycinnamoyl chlorides or N‐cinnamoyl‐6‐aminocaproyl chloride in DMAc solution and then polycondensated directly with various aromatic diamines. The preparation of homogeneous photocrosslinkable membranes from NMR solution was performed. The products were characterized by IR and NMR spectroscopy and thermal analysis. An amorphous structure was proved in all cases. A strong influence of the side‐chain structure on the photoreactivity has been observed.
