✦ Synopsis

Three distinct Ag, clusters can coexist in solid xenon and can be photoreversibly transformed into one another. By a dual beam technique the concentration of one of these species can be stabilized so that resonance Raman scattering and a photokinetic study of the system become possible. The results are interpreted in terms of a photoisomerization process. An application of the dual beam technique to a photoreversible biological system is proposed.
