β¦ Synopsis
When powdered TiO, was prepared from a commerical titamum hydroxide by calcination, its color turned to pale yellow at around 400Β°C and this yellow-colored TiO, showed higher photocatalytlc activity for oxygen isotope equihbration and the oxidation of carbon monoxide and ethane than standard TiO, in the visible light region (434 nm). The spectral sensitization of TiO, in this case was concluded to be due to NO, Impurity which was formed from NH,OH used in the preparation of titanium hydroxide.

## Abstract BACKGROUND: Semiconductor TiO~2~ has been investigated extensively due to its chemical stability, nontoxicity and inexpensiveness. However, the wide band gap of anatase TiO~2~ (about 3.2 eV) only allows it to absorb UV light. TiO~2~ nanoparticles modified by conditional conjugated polym
