✦ Synopsis

Recovery times for the pilotobleaching of the saturable absorbing dye DODCI by picosecond pulse escitation are reported. Variations in !IODCI concentration and exciting pulse power density result in recovery times ranging from -10 ps at h&h concentration/hi& power to > 250 ps ai !ow conczntration/low power. These results not only corroborate our earlier &ta for fast recovery times in DODCI but also explain the inability of other investigators to confirm these findings.

PΓ―cosecond time dependent fluorescente depolarization has been used to measure the rotational diff=sion time of 3,3'iliethyloxadicarjocyanine iodide (DODCI) in solution at 293 K: the stable form of DODCI was shown to have a "coiled" form, the cis,&-1 ,%conformation, whereas the photoisomer formed bu
