Polyurethane rigid foam shows substantial changes in its photoacoustic absorption spectra (PAS) on heating in the presence of air. These spectral changes are due to conjugated structures and quinone-imide formation, formed during degradation. The mechanism of degradation appears to be free radical i

β¦ Synopsis
Photoacoustic spectroscopy (PAS) is a recently developed, non-destructive testing (NDT) tool, used for analyzing the physical properties of materials. This method is used here to determine the thermal diffusivity and conductivity of the gel-grown single crystals of hippuric acid, a minor constituent of urinary calculi and also a non-linear optical (NLO) material. Optical absorption of the specimen was studied using its PA spectrum and compared with UV-visible absorption spectra. Second harmonic generation (SHG) conversion efficiency was also carried out. Characterization of the crystals was made using X-ray powder diffraction and density determination.

Optical absorption spectra of n-type CuInSez single crystals were evaluated by means of photoacoustic spectroscopy in the photon energy range from 0.94 to 1.02 eV. At photon energies below 0.99 eV the spectra exhibit exponential tails that are ascribed to the presence of shallow impurity states. At
## Abstract Nanostructured pβtype and nβtype porous silicon samples were prepared for (100) and (111) orientations and a systematic study is carried out on the effects of orientations, dopant type (boron and phosphorous), current density (20 and 30mA/cm^2^) and etching time on the formation, optica
