✦ Synopsis

A composite catalyst, in which Fe203 crystallites are deposited on ZnO particles, is found to photogenerate N02-in nitrogen-purged aqueous solution. Hydrogen is evolved concomitantly. 'The effectiveness of the catalyst is attributed to hole transfer from ZnO to Fe,O, and preferential chemisorption of nitrogen at the Fe20, surface. 11 12

The energy‐efficient and safe conversion of ethane into ethylene is possible by simultaneous exothermic oxidative dehydrogenation and endothermic cracking of ethane in the presence of steam and limited amounts of O~2~, by using the thermally and hydrothermally stable supported catalyst SrO/La~2~O~3~
