## Abstract Planar Goubau line (PGL) structures on high‐resistivity silicon are adapted to the 57–64 GHz frequency band. Simulations and measurements show a lower attenuation than with the coplanar line is obtained. Very low losses are attained with a measured average attenuation of 0.064 dB/mm on

Abstract
We report on a multifunctional optoelectronic radio frequency attenuator for millimeter wave applications, designed in a multilayer thin‐film multichip module technology on high resistive silicon. Insertion loss of measurements and electromagnetic simulations of a coplanar waveguide line under illumination demonstrate a contrast of 40 dB at 100 GHz. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
