The 31P magnetic shielding anisotropies in P4S3 from Fourier transform NMR spectra in the nematic phase are reported. They are in satisfactory agreement with results obtained from pulsed solid state experiments by Gibby et aI. The sign of the scalar coupling constant Jpp between the apical and basal phosphorus atoms is determined by correlating the results of this work with the results of Gibby et al. * This work was suppolted in part by'agtant of the National.
