✦ Synopsis

Phosphorescence of low density polyethylene induced by pulses of 6 MeV electrons was observed in the temperature range 20-200 K. Samples of PE unirradiated and preirradiated at room temperature to the dose of l MGy in vacuum and oxygen atmosphere were studied. Kinetics of the phosphorescence decay and the time resolved emission spectra are presented for each type of PE. Phosphorescence life time consecutively decreased in the order: unirradiated, preirradiated to 1 MGy in vacuum, preirradiated to 1 MGy in oxygen atmosphere.
