✦ Synopsis

Organic corripounds containing a positively polarized halggen uiom react with tertiary phosphincs either with reductive elimination of the halogen or with formation of phosphoniuni salts and quasi-phosphoniiini salts, depending on the solvent. In this reaction, the phosphiire first attacks the halogen. ~ 3. From amides and esters of cc-halogenocarboxylic acids a-halogenoalkylphosphine oxides 4. From cc$-dihalogenocarbonyl compounds.
