✦ Synopsis
Raman and infrared spectroscopy of Cu 1Àx Tl x Ba 2 Ca 3 Cu 4 O 12Ày (Cu 1Àx Tl x -1234) superconductor thin films are studied in the E in //c-axis configuration. The amorphous-phase epitaxy prepared samples were characterized by resistivity and susceptibility measurements have shown T c of the material to be 113 K. Raman active phonon modes were observed at 598, 527, 304, 232 and 151 cm À1 . The 598 and 527 cm À1 modes are assigned to the apical oxygen of types Cu(1)-O A -Cu(2) and Tl-O A -Cu(2). The 304 cm À1 mode is due to motion along the c-axis of Ca atoms and 232 cm À1 is due to in-plane motion of Ca atom. The 151 cm À1 mode is assigned to the Cu(2) atom motion along the caxis. A single apical oxygen mode is observed at 467 cm À1 in infrared absorption measurements.

We have studied the superconductivity of Cu 1Àx Tl x Ba 2 Ca 3 Cu 4 O 12Àd (x = 0.8 and 0.5) thin films by AC-susceptibility measurements under various external AC magnetic field strengths. It is observed from these measurements that the v 00 peak of AC-susceptibility measurements which is associate
