✦ Synopsis

We show the possibility of the formation of two-phonon bound states which give rise to a localized phonon mode like the one discovered recently in the compound Sm0.75Y0.25 S. A crucial point in our model is to take account of an indirect two-phonon interaction due to local lattice-distortions around localized electrons interacting over nearest neighbor sites.
