Abstract
Phonon anomalies in copper are investigated. With the shape of the Fermi surface obtained from selfβconsistent band structure calculations various kinds of anomalies are predicted in the (110)βplane of the waveβvector space. Some of them are investigated experimentally and the measured anomalies confirm the theoretical predictions in position and shape. Especially, an anomaly corresponding to the touching from inside of a Fermi surface with its shifted copy predicted by Kaganov et al. is observed for the first time. The experimental results are compared with earlier measurements of other authors.
