The title compound, C 21 H 17 FN 2 , was prepared from phenylhydrazine and 1-phenyl-3-(p-fluorophenyl)-2-propenyl-1ketone. The pyrazolinyl ring forms dihedral angles of 11.87 (12), 8.30 (12) and 65.89 (12) with phenyl rings at the 1 and 3 positions and the fluorophenyl ring, respectively.

The title compound, C 21 H 17 FN 2 , crystallizes with two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit. The pyrazoline and 4-fluorophenyl rings are planar. The phenyl ring at the 5position and the pyrazoline heterocycle are almost perpendicular.
