โœฆ Synopsis


This is not only because of their low density and high stiffness but also their superplastic formability. Superplastic forming allows weight saving, simplified fabrication processes, and design benefits. In this paper, the superplastic failure of an Al-Li alloy has been studied and the effect of hydrostatic confining pressure on failure has been also investigated. It is shown that the superposition of the hydrostatic confining gas pressure substantially retards the superplastic failure of this alloy in both uniaxial and biaxial loading states.
