✦ Synopsis
With 266 nm laser pulses a compound whose molecular structure incorporates a sterically hindered phenol group and two sterically hindered N-methyl piperidine groups was ionized in a two-photon process. From the intermediate phenol radical cation the change is transferred to the amine moiety, generating tertiary amine radical cations. This phenomenon is likely to proceed via an intramolecular charge transfer through space.
