## Abstract ## BACKGROUND: Abrupt cessation of alcohol intake causes habituated drinkers to experience symptoms of alcohol withdrawal syndrome (AWS). ## OBJECTIVE: To determine the effect of the gamma‐aminobutyric acid (GABA)‐B agonist baclofen on the course of acute symptomatic AWS. ## DESIGN:
