We show the existence ofa phase transition at b=O in an ensemble of non-interacting one-dimensional anharmonic oscillators each moving under the influence of the potential V(X) =a.?( It bx*/Za)'. This is a consequence of the abrupt change in the nature of the energy eigenvalue spectrum of each oscillator that occurs across b=O.
