✦ Synopsis

Fluid phase equilibria for (carbon dioxide + Glycidol) were studied at temperatures from 292 K to 343 K and pressures up to 27 MPa. Six (vapour + liquid) pressure against composition isotherms, from T = 298 K to T = 343 K, were measured using an analytical method, in the pressure range from 9 MPa to 27 MPa. At lower pressures, the ( p, T) projection of the three-phase (liquid + liquid + vapour) equilibrium surface was followed from T = 292 K up to the critical end-point, at T = 309.00 K and p = 7.966 MPa. An attempt to fit several cubic equations of state to the VLE isotherms, using different mixing and combining rules, was most successful for the Soave-van der Waals equation with the Panagiotopoulos-Reid combining rule. This, and other equations of state with good fitting results, were used to predict the behaviour of the system for higher pressures and temperatures than those of this experimental study.
