โœฆ Synopsis

The critical properties of a ferroelectric multilayer system consisting of two alternating different pseudo spin-1/2 and spin-S (S ! 1/2) ferroelectric slabs with the same thickness L are discussed by the use of the spin-S transverse Ising model. The behavior of the transition temperature T c and the critical transverse field W c is examined as a function of the inter-slab interaction R numerically, selecting the two values of L and S, namely L = 1, 2 and S = 1/2, 1. We have found many characteristic phenomena in the systems, such as double values of T c in a certain region of R, when the values of R and W are selected as large values.

Within the framework of the effective-field theory with correlations, the ferromagnetic spin-2 Ising model with a transverse crystal field on honeycomb, square and simple cubic lattices is studied. We have investigated the effect of the transverse crystal field on the phase diagrams, magnetization,
