The investigation of multi-component complex systems composed of oxides, nitrides, and carbides has intensified in the last few years. Phase Diagrams in Advanced Ceramics reviews some of the recent advances inthe understanding of these composite systems, providing insight into how phase diagrams can

This book serves undergraduates, postgraduates, and scientists in materials science who wish to acquire or extend their understanding of ternary phase diagrams. Emphasis is given to the use of phase diagrams as a means of understanding phase changes that occur as a function of temperature.

This book is an extensively revised and expanded version of the second edition published in 1981. The book aims to provide an introduction to the subject of ternary phase diagrams, commencing with fundamental principles followed by discussion of simple systems and proceeding to examples of increasin
