Among many chemical actinometers,' potassium ferrioxalate is most widely used because of its high sensitivity in a wide range of wavelength, v&., the blue region of the visible spectrum as well as the uv region. 2 This feature, however, sometimes causes serious disadvantages. Thus the actinometer must always be shielded from laboratory lights even in the photoreactions proceeding by uv lights below 300 nm, and is so sensitive as to be useful only for short time irradiations.
