✦ Synopsis
Abstract
Four new compounds, pestalotheols E–H (1–4), along with one known metabolite, anofinic acid (5), were isolated from a fungal endophyte, an unidentified Ascomycete. The structures of the new compounds were elucidated by detailed spectroscopic analysis, and the relative stereochemistries of pestalotheols E–H (1–4) were confirmed by NOESY experiments. Compounds 1–5 showed good antifungal, antibacterial, and antialgal activities against Microbotryum violaceum, Escherichia coli, Bacillus megaterium, and Chlorella fusca; compounds 3–5 showed strong antibacterial activity.
