Throughout the past 30 years, the counseling profession has been greatly assisted in establishing its knowledge base by the Educational Resources Information Center-Counseling and Student Services (ERIC/CASS) section. During that time, Garry R. Walz has directed the effor ts of ERIC/CASS and has been a leading spokesperson about research and development issues. This article is a summary of an interview with Walz in which he reflected on past efforts to establish a sound knowledge base and discussed future challenges for the counseling profession.
