To define the duration of viremia in the course of acute hepatitis B, we semiquantitatively determined the levels of hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA in the sera, using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) coupled with Southern blotting, of non-immunocompromised patients with self-limited acute hepatitis B. β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
Symptomatic hyperekplexia is a relatively rare entity, but has been documented in various, mostly brainstem diseases. We report the clinical and neurophysiologic vignette of a patient with a selfβlimiting, possibly inflammatory brainstem encephalopathy. Trismus was the presenting feature, but she later developed hyperekplexia. Although most brainstem features resolved spontaneously, the hyperekplexia has persisted. Β© 2007 Movement Disorder Society

Persistent viremia after clinical or subclinical hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is believed to occur in patients with chronic hepatitis C, but little is known about the duration of HCV replication in patients with acute hepatitis who have recovered or the relation of HCV viremia with the kinetics
