✦ Synopsis
Excitation of iodine fluorescence with a single mode tunable dye lnser allows extensive observation of features from vibrationally and rotationally transferred states populatti through collisions. We have measured the ckcuhr polarisation of these features and observe a very high degree of polarisation following both vibrational and rotational energy tmnsfer: thus transitions from states following hl' = 60 and ~UJ' = 1, AJ' = 60 are still highly polarised. This implies strong conservation of MJ throughout energetic inelastic collisions.
