The effect of poisons added to 0.1 N H&IO, on the permeation of hydrogen through a steel diaphragm has been studied by measuring the permeation current P. The effect of poisons in increasing P decmases in the discus3 uence As > Se > Te > S > Pb > Bi. The mechanism of poison action is reviewed and on the basis of hydrogen coverage and the kinetics of hydrogen evolution on iron in acid solutions. Der EinSuss der Gifte auf zunehmende Permeationsstrome verkleinert sich in der Reihenfolge As > Se > Te > S > Pb > Bi. Der Mechanismus der Giftwirkung wird auf der Grundlage der WasserstofTbedeckung und der Kinetik der Wasserstoffentwickhmg an Eisen in sauren Ldsungen zusammenfassend diskutiert.
