Almtraet--Using a cell model to describe a fibrous porous medium theoretical expressions are deduced relating effective gas diffusivity to the volume fraction of the fibres. Cylindrical as well as band-shaped fibres are studied. The new models, which are based on solutions to the diffusion equation,
Tests on fibrous plaster sheet, reinforced with sisal and glass fibres in the bulk density range 56 to 72.5 Ib/ft 3 (W/P : 0.9 to 0.6), show that sisal fibre decreases the strength of the gypsum composite by approximately 30 to 50% and glass fibre by approximately 0 to 30%. The effect on compressive
