Contents sealing ISSN 1350-4789 March 2011 www.sealingtechnology.info TECHNOLOGY O ffering high temperature resist- ance, together with improvements in mechanical and chemical resistance, Perlast G75TX perfluoroelastomer, developed by Precision Polymer Engineering Ltd (PPE), enhances sealing performance in valves, pumps and mechanical seals.
Perlast G75TX overcomes the poor compression performance normally associated with perfluoroelastomers at high temperatures, says the firm, which is a business unit of US-based IDEX Corp. An ultra-low compression set of 8%, compared with the more typical 38%, gives the elastomer a longer, in-service life.
In addition, it has been formulated to provide improved resistance to aggressive chemicals such as acids and amines. By reducing the elastomer's permeability, it is less prone to swelling and more resistant to the effects of hightemperature steam.
